Lenora Rosenfield<\/h1>\n\t\t\t

Born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, Lenora has been painting for decades utilizing a procedure that she herself created, the synthetic fresco, made with materials of Brazilian origin used in civil construction, which is part of her research.<\/p>\n \t\t\t

Biography<\/h2>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t

At age 18, she studied painting through an exchange program at the New School for Social Research in New York City. In the 1980s, she lived in Florence, Italy, where she studied restoration. The following decade, she received a scholarship from Harvard University, where she researched restoration and painting materials. Later she completed her Masters in Poetics in Visual Arts at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and a PhD at the University of S\u00e3o Paulo, in a Fulbright inter-university exchange doctorate at New York University.\n\nShe holds a postgraduate degree from the Universit\u00e0 degli Studi di Udine in Italy, as well as from Rio de Janeiro State University. She taught painting at the Art Institute of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul from 1993 to 2017 and for over two decades she headed the institution's restoration lab.\n\nShe has participated in group and solo exhibitions since the 1970s. The end of 2016 culminated in the retrospective Itiner\u00e1rios, held at the Ado Malagoli Art Museum of Rio Grande do Sul (MARGS) and curated by Francisco Dalcol. Her work can be found in the state of Rio Grande do Sul's main art institutions, as well as in private collections in Brazil, the United States and Europe.\n\nIn May of 2018, she published the book \u201cItiner\u00e1rios,\u201d which marks her nearly 50 years of dedication to the arts. Since 2020, she has shown her work in New York and Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n

P\u00f3s-doutora pela Universit\u00e0 degli Studi di Udine (IT), tamb\u00e9m pela Universidade Estadual do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), foi professora de pintura do Instituto de Artes da UFRGS (1993 a 2017) e por mais de duas d\u00e9cadas esteve \u00e0 frente do laborat\u00f3rio de restaura\u00e7\u00e3o da institui\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

She participates in collective and individual exhibitions since the 70\u2019s. 2016\u2019s end culminates with the retrospective Itiner\u00e1rios (Itineraries), at the Art Museum of Rio Grande do Sul (Margs) Ado Malagoli, curated by Francisco Dalcol. Her works can be found in the collections of the main institutions of the state of Rio Grande do Sul and in private collections in Brazil, the United States and Europe.<\/p>\n

The book \u201cItiner\u00e1rios\u201d reveals personal and professional moments in the nearly five decades of Lenora Rosenfield\u2019s performance in the visual arts.<\/p>\n

The book was conceived as an extension of the exhibition Itiner\u00e1rios, held at MARGS, in order to broaden the understanding of the artist\u2019s production and trajectory.<\/p>\n

With a bilingual text comprised of interviews, research and documentation, it was edited by art critic and curator Francisco Dalcol. The narrative attempt to embody the artistic production, but also other aspects of Lenora\u2019s work as an art conservator and teacher.<\/p>\n

Her career has been defined by several challenging events and facts, places and times that have offered remarkable experiences in their professional character, including seasons spent in New York, Florence, Cambridge, Udine and, of course, in Porto Alegre.<\/p>\n

The texts are accompanied by photos, reproductions and documentary images that reinforce the publication's biographical nature. Lenora\u2019s body of art work shows the diversity of her languages. Itiner\u00e1rios is a production of Genuinaobra, published by Circuito.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t
