Subtraction and Absence, 2004/2005

The works presented from June 7 to July 5, 2005, at the Rio Grande do Sul Museum of Art Ado Malagoli - MARGS, are the result of a research on the fresco procedure, which formed a metaphorical interweaving of elements drawn from Art History, materials, aesthetic intention and painting conservation integrated in a physical nonwoven support. This multidisciplinary combination forms a grid of influences and appropriations bound together by the unconscious power of influences and by the conscious choices of aesthetic patterns.

More than choices, these conscious influences are appropriations. In this case, not of images, but of art periods, or attitudes that use the body as a reference, ranging from the caveman to the aborigines and to contemporary art.
